Promoting Pediatric Primary Prevention through Health Center Innovation

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted long-standing disparities in health outcomes amongst special and vulnerable populations. It also reiterated the urgency of building capacity to address these disparities and close existing gaps. For children, disparities in access to preventive care services, such as immunizations, could be seen by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, zip code, and other factors. Health centers are well-poised to address existing disparities and close gaps in children's health outcomes. But unique challenges exist. The social drivers of health that disproportionately affect health center children, such as low income, parent level of education, geographical location, food insecurity, et al, can present barriers to preventive care services. In this webinar, we provide examples of innovative ways health centers can increase pediatric immunization rates, number of well-child visits, and improve quality measures through health center teams and community partnerships.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Understand how social drivers of health can disproportionately affect health center children and result in disparities in health services and health outcomes
• Learn how health centers are developing innovative solutions and partnerships to promote pediatric primary prevention and improve pediatric health performance measures
• Develop strategies, including leveraging community partnerships, to improve children's preventive services and close gaps in care
• Increase their capacity to establish, modify, enhance, and sustain the accessibility of preventive children's services, particularly well-child visits and immunizations, during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond

Cancellation Policy: Effective 11/1/21 - No refunds will be available for cancellations that are received within 10 business days before the start date of the event/training. To receive a maximum refund of 50% of the registration price prior to this deadline, all cancellations must be in writing and submitted by emailing training@cpca.org. Substitutions of registrations in lieu of cancellation is encouraged.
